ekklisia texni poster2Larissa Antiquities Ephorate in collaboration with the Region of Thessaly and the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos are organizing a scientific meeting on the topic “Church and Artistic Production in Thessaly during 16th century”. The meeting is held on the occasion of closing of the temporary exhibition “Hope and Faith”, hosted in Diachronic Museum of Larissa since 2 December 2018. In this exhibition, important church objects of this period were shown, kindly conceded by the Thessalian metropolis and monasteries, in order to stress the great development of the period, both economic and cultural, as well as the role of the local church. Fifteen presentations are going to be held, related with history and art of the 16th century, on the subjects of local hagiology, monasticism, church painting, metal curving and gold embroidering.
The meeting will be held in Diachronic Museum of Larissa in Friday evening of 1st of March (opening time 7.00 p.m.) and Saturday morning with free entry for the public.
