afisa ekthesisOn Friday the 26th of July, the temporary exhibition titled "CHORO-GRAPHIES: the painting decoration of Favre mansion in Metaxochori of Agia" was opened at the Diachronic Museum of Larissa.

The exhibition, organized by the Service of Modern Monuments and Technical Works of Thessaly and Central Region of Sterea Ellada, in collaboration with the Antiquities Ephorate of Larissa, presents a series of frescoes and wall-paintings which have been dismantled from the Favre mansion, a preserved historical monument in Metaxochori of Agia, as part of building protection measures.

Painted in the last decades of the 19th century to decorate the Metaxochori residence of the Swiss banker Eugene Favre and his french wife Stephanie, frescoes and wall-paintings constitute a "western" painting ensemble, unique in the region of Agia as well as in Thessaly.

Presenting this material with direct reference to the building shell from which it was originated, the exhibition aspires to serve as a trigger for exploring the relationship between image and space as it was introduced to the region of Agia at the end of the 19th century by the owners of the house.

The exhibition will last until 31 August.
