The Antiquities Ephorate of Larissa in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation, the Region of Thessaly and Tempi Municipality celebrated the inauguration of the archaeological site of Tempi on Sunday, October 15, 2017. The site was revealed at Chani Kokkonas during construction work for the new motorway Maliakos – Kleidi (NSRF 2007 – 2013).
The archaeological remains of a hellenistic complex of ritualistic and workshop character, of a byzantine temple and a byzantine building characterized as an inn came to light during the research. Preservation and enhancement work of the antiquities resulted in the formation of an archaeological site appropriate for visitors at 2016 – 2017.
The metropolitan bishop of Larissa and Tirnavos mr Ignatios was present in the inauguration ceremony.
