The Antiquities Ephorate of Larissa, the Diachronic Museum of Larissa and the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki co-organize a significant temporary exhibition named "Figurine. A world in miniature. Thessaly and Macedonia".
Through the 558 figurines of the exhibition, which come from 92 settlements of the Neolithic era as well as from cities and cemeteries of the ancient historical times of Thessaly and Macedonia, aspects of the cultural identity, life, ideology and society of the two regions are highlighted, from the Neolithic farmers (mid 7th millennium BC) until the end of antiquity (3rd century AD).
The exhibition is framed by works of contemporary Greek and foreign artists of the Municipal Gallery of Larissa, inspired by the world of figurines.
At the beginning of the exhibition there will be guided tours by archaeologists of the Antiquities Ephorate of Larissa in small groups due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Exhibition duration: July 2020 - December 2021.
