The church of Panagia Faneromeni is one of the most important temples of Tyrnavos and was the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Metropolis of Tyrnavos after its extended renovation on 1872. The Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos, in co-operation with the Antiquities Ephorate of Larissa, recently proceeded to the restoration of its icons, which revealed interesting information about the successive stages of the temple. The old icon of Panagia Faneromeni, dated about 1600 A.D. is one of the icons that are restored and it is a proof of the temple importance.
On this occasion, an exhibition of selected icons of the church of Faneromeni from the 15th to the 19th century is organized at the Diachronic Museum of Larissa, which clearly present all the stages of the historic church and the city itself.
