The Ministry of Culture, the Region of Thessaly, the Larissa Antiquities Ephorate and the Special Program Management Service "THESSALIA" are organizing on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 8 p.m. at the 1st Ancient Theater of Larissa, an event regarding the progress of the project "RESTORATION OF THE ANCIENT THEATER OF LARISA PHASE E", financed by the Operational Program "Thessaly 2014-2020". The Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni will be present at the event.
This will be followed by a musical event with the Larissa Symphony Orchestra and Estudiantina Orchestra of Nea Ionia in collaboration with the National Opera.
The Larissa Symphony Orchestra will present the original musical composition of conductor Christos Ktistakis "Symphonic Ode" written especially for the event. It is inspired by ancient Greek scales (modes) Doric, Aeolian and Mixolydian, by the Byzantine hymnology sound plagios secondo, and by the Greek folk tradition. At the conclusion of the work, the musical theme from the "Epitaph of Seikilos", a preserved musical text of antiquity, is heard.
The Estudiantina Orchestra of Nea Ionia under the artistic direction of Andreas Katsigiannis will present the musical program Mare Nostrum - A journey to the Music of the Mediterranean, which unites 23 different people. Common melodies and original arrangements meet on stage highlighting the kinship of the peoples of the Mediterranean through their common language, music. A melodic caravan that starts from the East, crosses the Balkans, the Greek-speaking villages of Lower Italy and ends up in the Greece of today and yesterday, a Greece full of woes and light.
